Two people have died after a two-vehicle crash in Dalefield in the Queenstown-Lakes District last night.
A police spokesperson said emergency services were alerted to the incident on Malaghans Rd at about 10pm and found two dead people at the scene.
“The Serious Crash Unit has conducted a scene examination and the road reopened about midday,” they said.
“Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.”
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they received a call at 9.38pm.
“We attended with three road ambulances and a helicopter from Queenstown.”
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said they received a call from St John around 9.50pm about a two-vehicle crash on Malaghans Rd.
“We sent out crews from Frankton and Arrowtown. Upon arrival, ambulance were working on the scene.
“We were required to extricate a person from one of the vehicles.”
Malaghans Rd is nearly 12km long between Arrowtown and Arthurs Point.
