TRAGIC TWIST AFTER FOUR DEAD BODIES ARE FOUND INSIDE AUSTRALIAN HOME

Four people, including a teenage boy, have been found dead at a property in Melbourne's north overnight.

Two men, aged 32 and 37, a 42-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy were found dead by emergency services in a loungeroom of a unit in Bicknell Court, Broadmeadows, shortly before 2am on Tuesday.

The bodies were first discovered by 'Corey', the uncle of the teenage boy, who smashed a window of the unit after seeing his nephew lying on the floor.

The four people were last seen alive by a neighbour at about 2am on Monday.

The teenager is understood to be the father of an 18-month-old baby girl.

Corey, who is also brother-in-law to one of the dead, told 7News he believes the deaths were caused by a drug overdose, but police have not confirmed this.

'I've come home to find family members in the house deceased and it just tortured me, shocked me,' he told Nine's Today show.

'I think (it was) an overdose but I'm not too sure exactly.'

Corey was joined by other family members outside the home who were seen embracing each other just after 8.30am on Tuesday.

It's understood he lives in a neighbouring unit.

Police have taped off the property and forensic officers are at the scene.

Victoria Police Detective Inspector Dean Thomas said police believe one of the deceased was a resident and the three others were visiting.

He said police are investigating the possibility the deaths are related to an overdose.

'There's nothing at this stage to suggest there's been any acts of violence but there are some injuries that we need to be able to account for,' he told reporters on Tuesday.

'At this stage we don't believe there's been any form of violence.'

Detective Inspector Thomas said the four people are understood to be known to each other but are yet to be formally identified.

The teenager, the 37-year-old man and the woman were all known to police, it's understood.

Detective Inspector Thomas added items from the property will need to be taken from the scene and examined but would not confirm if there was drug paraphernalia.

'It is unusual to find four people deceased at the one property potentially from a drug overdose, but we've got to keep an open mind and until we confirm that's the case, it could be anything,' Detective Inspector Thomas said.

Police are treating the deaths as non-suspicious at this stage of the investigation.

'We keep an open mind as to what the cause of death is at this stage,' Mr Thomas said.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
