ONE DEAD AFTER CRASH IN AUCKLAND CBD, WEEKEND ROAD TOLL AT THREE

One person has died after a two-vehicle crash in Auckland’s CBD.

Emergency services responded to the crash on Upper Queen St, near Ian McKinnon Dr, which was reported about 7pm on Sunday.

A police spokesperson said the road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination but it has since reopened.

“Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing,” the spokesperson said.

The crash brings the Matariki long weekend road toll up to three.

Two people died after a two-vehicle crash in Dalefield in the Queenstown-Lakes District on Saturday night.

A police spokesperson said emergency services were alerted to the incident on Malaghans Rd at about 10pm and found two dead people at the scene.
