CRYING CHILDREN BETRAY KIDNAPPING AT AIRPORT

An Iranian living in the Netherlands tried to kidnap his three children.

He picked them up at their school on Tuesday and drove straight to the Cologne airport with his 13-year-old son and two little daughters. He had bought tickets in advance for a one-way flight to Tehran, with stopover in Istanbul.

However, thanks to alert police officers and security guards, this parental abduction could be prevented. The children kept crying as they lined up for the security check, which was suspicious to staff. They also repeatedly called out in Arabic for their mom and the security personnel smelled danger.

They took the father aside for a moment and informed the police. The police did a quick background check on the man and found out that his ex-wife had already notified the police because she feared he would run off alone with the children.

The father was taken away and the children were taken into care. That same evening, the children were able to be reunited with their mother, thanks to alert security forces at Cologne airport.
