SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR MAN BELIEVED MISSING IN WAIRARAPA BUSH

Police and search and rescue teams are looking for a man who is believed to have gone missing in Wairarapa bushland last night.

The man's family notified police shortly before 10:30pm on Thursday after they found his car on Mangatarere Valley Rd near Carterton, a police spokesperson told Newshub.

"He was last seen about 9:30am on Wednesday," they said.

The search and rescue team has been scouring the bush overnight and extra staff will join in the search on Friday morning.
