POLICE SWARM REMOTE AUCKLAND SETTLEMENT

Police say there is "no ongoing risk" to the public as they carry out a search warrant in Āwhitu Peninsula on Wednesday morning.

A statement to Newshub confirmed they were at an address in Pollok "in relation to a pre-planned search warrant" while enquiries continued.

A number of Police were at an Āwhitu Road address but said they were "unable to comment further while this is ongoing".

Last month, an alleged offender was shot by police after they drove at officers attempting to execute a search warrant in Āwhitu.

Counties Manukau District Commander Shanan Gray said at the time that a number of specialist officers, including the Armed Offenders Squad, had arrived at the Āwhitu Central Road property to execute a search warrant in relation to firearms offences.

A man inside a car then attempted to drive into police officers.

"One Police officer was struck by the vehicle and a second was required to dive out of the way of an ongoing vehicle."

It is not yet known whether Wednesday morning's warrant had any connection to the earlier event.
