MOMENT TOURIST PERFORMS CITIZEN'S ARREST ON 'PICKPOCKET'

This is the moment tourists performed a citizen's arrest on a 'pickpocket' outside the gates of Buckingham Palace.

Footage showing two apparent 'tourists' catching an alleged pickpocket and holding her outside the royal residence has gone viral on social media.

The video shows a man holding the supposed female culprit with her arms behind her back before shouting at her to 'shut up'.

A woman holding a red umbrella is also filmed arguing with the accused pickpocket, telling her to 'stay here' and threatening that she will be put 'on the floor'. It is unclear who the alleged thief tried to steal from.

Held back by the arms, the woman - dressed in a black jacket and white trousers - can be heard shouting 'call police, police, call' before letting out a scream.

The female tourist, with a red umbrella and pink coat, then walks up to the alleged pickpocket and says 'don't move', while onlookers were seen gathering around filming the incident.

She says in the footage: 'Don't move. No.

'No, I don't want you to say something. I've called police already.

'You stay here.'

The male tourist holding the woman then said: 'Otherwise you will get arrest right now.

'I will put you on the floor.'

The other tourist then chimed in: 'If you move, he will put you on the floor.'

The alleged pickpocket screams 'no' throughout the video.

At the end of the clip, the man can be seen shouting 'can you shut up' at the pickpocket.

It comes as the tourist site is one of London's pickpocketing hotspots.

Advice on the Changing of the Guard website alerts visitors to the risks of pickpocketing and warns people to take care of personal belongings.

It warns: 'If you are coming to watch, please do take care of your personal possessions at all times as, like many crowded places, pickpockets have been known to operate in this area.

'Please report any suspicious behaviour to a Police Officer.'
