FLIGHTS IN CHAOS AT LEEDS BRADFORD AIRPORT AS RUNWAY SHUT FOR EMERGENCY REPAIRS

Flights at Leeds Bradford Airport have been severely disrupted this afternoon after its runway was closed for emergency repairs.

The works have meant planes are unable to take off or land on Friday afternoon.

Leeds Bradford Airport said in a post on X that the runway was expected to remain shut until at least 7pm today, and check-in will shut until 5pm.

It added that its teams were “working tirelessly” to carry out the repairs and advised holidaymakers to contact their airlines for further travel advice.

Details of the damage to the runway have not been revealed by the airport.
