POLICE RELEASE PHOTO OF MAN IN RELATION TO FOUR SQUARE ARMED ROBBERY

Police investigating an armed robbery in Tokoroa, where a man with a large knife got away with cash and tobacco products, have released a photo of a man they want to speak to. 

Detective Sergeant Neale Saunders said a man entered the Four Square on Balmoral Drive in Tokoroa about 9pm on Saturday and threatened two staff members with a large knife. 

Det Srg Saunders said the man was demanding cash and cigarettes. 

"The staff did the right thing when faced with an armed intruder and handed over an amount of cash while the offender took tobacco products," he said. 

"Thankfully, the staff were not harmed, but were shaken by what had occurred, and they are being offered support." 

Police are now asking the man pictured, or anyone who recognises him, to contact police via 105 or online at 105.govt.nz, referencing the file number 240420/8258. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
